I have not been to impressed by most of the music festivals I have visited this year. It’s not so much to do with the line up but more to do with the price and catering. When you combine the costs of travel plus your food and drink and drink at the event it can come to hell of a lot of money. Anyway, this year was no exception when we attended the Isle of Wight Festival It won’t go down as a major triumph by any stretch of the imagination.
The day didn’t begin too well as in decided to pack up on us on the A3the car that we were travelling. This meant that when we finally arrived in Portsmouth to pick up the Ferry to the Isle of Wight we had missed the boat that we had booked our tickets for. Finally reaching our destination feeling dissapointed and dishevelled some of us were still getting over sea sickness. We were due to meet up with a group of our mates but they had gone on ahead of us once we phoned them to say that we were held up.
In the next couple of days things went slowly downhill from there. The IOW Festival was literally a washout. When we arrived on the Friday the mud was continuing to dry from the week before. The wet weather seemed to have followed us all the way from home. The outing wasn’t a complete disappointment though. We saw The Strokes and the were absolutely fantastic. Hard To Explain by The STrokes has to be one of the many Strokes numbers I never thought I’d get to hear live but when I did it was awesome. The crowd went mayhem and I got caught on the head by stage diver. Maybe that will knock some sense into me for when I visit again.
