Teyler Museum


The Teyler Museum (or Teyler’s Museum, ), located in , is the oldest museum in the . The museum is in the former home of Pieter Teyler van der Hulst (1702–1778). He was a wealthy cloth merchant and banker of Scottish descent, who bequeathed his fortune for the advancement of . He was a Mennonite and follower of the Scottish Enlightenment. Nearby the museum is the Teylers Hofje, a hofje which was also founded in Teyler’s name.
