Packing for a long trip can be stressful. You know you want to have everything you’ll need, but will you be able to lift your luggage when you get it packed?. It’s no wonder why some tourists always pay more for their baggages than they expected.

Where to Go During Winter

Winter travel means skiing and snowboarding. Select a destination that offers the best amenities. A region that isn’t as prone to snow storms as others is the best to go to for some winter fun. Consult a travel agency for the best places where you can spend your winter holiday.

Winter Hiking Gear

Hiking during the winter holidays? Sometimes, a theme holiday can be a blessing or a curse. The things you bring must suit the activities you’re planning on doing. You also need to consider the duration of your stay in the resort or the mountains.

Clothing Options

Warm clothes are staple during winter. Bring lightweight items that can be layered. You can take one layer off if it’s warmer than you anticipated. Light clothes can fit inside a backpack.

You must also consider where you will be living while you’re on your trip. Will you be living inside a tent? Are you going to rent a cabin along the way? If you can wash your clothes at least once while you’re gone, you can avoid having to take so many clothes to begin with. If you have a way to wash clothes, you can bring less clothes with you.

First Aid Supplies

Travel First Aid Kit is a must. First aid items are a must if you’re planning an outdoors adventure. The basics include bandages, splints and anti-inflammation ointments. Trekking is always dangerous whether in the winter or summer. Preparing for small and big injuries is the best way to pack a first aid kit. Bring enough for sharing. You never know which group member might need your first aid kit.

You don’t have to bring much, but you absolutely need unscented soap and anti-allergy medication. Unscented soaps are less likely to cause rashes, which is important if the skin you’re treating is inflamed. Use a watertight first aid kit. Water has a way of seeping through non-resistant material, so you need to make sure your medicines and bandages stay dry.

Your Gear

In a winter hiking gear, we cannot ignore winter hiking boots. Insist on the best kind of hiking boots for your winter adventure. Keep your feet comfortable during your hike so that you don’t get injured. Out in the wilderness during winter, you must always take care of your eyes. To prevent snow blindness, it is recommended to use sunglasses that transmit 5-10 % of visible light and absorb almost all UV rays.

You need markers for your route so you can find your way back. Snow storms are not uncommon that’s why you need flares to signal for help when you lose your way or need rescuing.

Finally, visit this website for more information on hiking and backpacking tip

Six train break downs have resulted in 55,000 travellers having their journeys disrupted.

Eurostar have reported that although their trains have been reliable for over 15 years the abnormally acute weather conditions in northern France have caused the problems that have been experienced. Eurostar say that they have identified the technical issue and that they are now taking steps to remedy the issue.

As many as 2000 passengers have been trapped on broken down trains in the Channel tunnel. Some passengers have been trapped in their trains in the channel tunnel for as long as 16 hours. Many had no food, no water and no information from the train operators telling them what was happening. Some travellers abandoned their stranded trains and attempted to walk through the cold, dark tunnel which extends for 24 miles beneath the channel.

Although Eurostar have issued apologies and promised to pay refunds and compensation to travelers affected by the debacle many passengers are very unhappy with the way the situation has been managed. Some passengers are reported to have suffered from panic attacks and other from the effects of claustrophobia. Many have complained about the lack of information, food, water and support.

Many people, 31,000 on Saturday and a further 27,000 on Sunday, were stranded due to train cancellations.

The continuing bad weather has caused flights to be cancelled from many British airports. Weather forecasters have warned of further travel disruption as more snow is forecast this week and into the Christmas holidays. The Scottish Police have advised travelers to stay at home unless their journey is absolutely essential.

As many as 2000 passengers have been trapped on broken down trains in the Channel tunnel. Some are reported to have spent as much as 16 hours confined in their trains below the English Channel.
Freezing weather conditions have continued to disrupt travel in all parts of the British Isles with flight cancellations from many airports.

Here in the UK, people always take their holiday breaks in the summer. People forever book up their holidays in the months of June, July and August. One of the main reasons is simply because the kids are off of school at that time. But things seem to be changing; it looks as though the new peak time for holidays in the United kingdom are going to be the wintertime.

As we all acknowledge the credit crisis has hit everyone’s pockets rather a bit, most people have been unable to go on holiday this year, merely because they just cannot afford it. It is estimated that more than 12 million British people actually chose to stay at home this summer. So a vast amount of people are still looking to get away this winter as its a lot cheaper. We all realise that we are going to have an absolutley terrible winter in the United Kingdom, so people really want to relax and unwind in the sun. So what are a good few options that you can take? And a few nice places you can go?

Well an obvious option would be a tourist destination such as perhaps Turkey or Egypt where you are forever guaranteed some great sunshine, you could go there to relax or unwind and sit by the beach for a couple of weeks. Another choice would be to do something a bit more rewarding such as going some place such as a Safari. You will get to see a wide range of unique animals and be captivated by the pure beautiful nature that is surrounding you. The weather all year round are cracking for Safaris, you never really get any cold bouts like in the United kingdom, it is mainly warm throughout the whole year.

For great safaris, Zanzibar safari and Botswana safaris
