The Grand Bazaar (or Covered Bazaar (”Covered Bazaar”)) in Istanbul is one of the largest covered markets in the world with more than 58 streets and 4,000 shops, and has between 250,000 and 400,000 visitors daily. It is well known for its jewelry, pottery, spice, and carpet shops. Many of the stalls in the bazaar are grouped by type of goods, with special areas for leather coats, gold jewelry and the like. The bazaar contains two bedestens (domed masonry structures built for storage and safe keeping), the first of which was constructed between 1455 and 1461 by the order of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror. The bazaar was vastly enlarged in the 16th century, during the reign of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, and in 1894 underwent a major restoration following an earthquake. Great tourist destination with lot’s of cheap connection flights.

Santa Maria la Real de La Almudena is a Catholic cathedral in Madrid. Plans for the construction of a new cathedral for Madrid dedicated to the Virgin of Almudena began in the 16th century, but the slow construction did not begin until 1879. Francisco de Cubas, the Marquis of Cubas, was the architect who designed and directed the construction in a Gothic revival style. Construction ceased completely during the Spanish Civil War. The project was abandoned until 1950, when Fernando Chueca Goitia adapted the plans of de Cubas to a neoclassical style exterior to match the grey and white façade of the Palacio Real, which stands directly opposite. and was not completed until 1993, when the cathedral was consecrated by Pope John Paul II. On May 22, 2004, the marriage of Felipe, Prince of Asturias to Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano (who was thereafter known as Letizia, Princess of Asturias) took place at the cathedral. One of most chosen vacation destinations. spring is perfect timing.

Grauman’s Chinese Theatre is an iconic movie theatre located at 6928 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood. The Chinese Theatre was commissioned following the success of the nearby Grauman’s Egyptian Theatre which opened in 1922. Built over 18 months beginning in January 1926 by a partnership headed by Sid Grauman, the theatre opened May 18, 1927 with the premiere of Cecil B. DeMille’s The King of Kings.[1] It has since been home to many premieres, birthday parties, corporate junkets and two Academy Awards ceremonies. Among the theatre’s most famous traits are the autographed cement blocks that reside in the forecourt, which bear the signatures and markings of many of Hollywood’s most revered stars and starlets. From 1973 through 2001, the theatre was known as Mann’s Chinese Theatre, owing to its acquisition by Mann Theatres in 1973. In the wake of Mann’s bankruptcy, the Chinese, along with the other Mann properties, was sold in 2000 to a partnership comprising Warner Bros. and Paramount Pictures, who also acquired the Mann brand name.[2] In 2002 the original name was restored to the cinema palace, although the other theatres in the attached Hollywood and Highland mall retain and continue to operate under the name Mann’s Chinese 6 Theater.  Visit it while sightseeing Los Angeles.

Trinity College, Dublin (TCD), corporately designated as the Provost, Fellows and Scholars of the College of the Holy and Undivided Trinity of Queen Elizabeth near Dublin, was founded in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth I as the “mother of a university”, and is the only constituent college of the University of Dublin. Trinity and the University of Dublin form Ireland’s oldest and most prestigious university. Trinity is located in the centre of Dublin, Ireland, on College Green opposite the former Irish Houses of Parliament (now a branch of the Bank of Ireland). The campus occupies 47 acres (190,000 m2), with many buildings, both old and new, ranged around large courts (known as “squares”) and two playing fields. It is not famous one, but very interesting place to visit in Dublin. Add it to your sightseeing tour.

The Piazza Venezia is a piazza in central Rome. It takes its name from the adjacent Palazzo Venezia. The piazza is at the foot of the Capitoline Hill and near the Roman Forum. It is dominated by the imposing Victor Emmanuel II monument. This is the large central square in the hub of Rome. Piazza Venezia has a constant stream of traffic, yet no traffic lights. Instead, a white gloved traffic police officer stands on a block and directs traffic. Great for summer vacation tour.

Portmeirion is an Italianate resort village in Gwynedd, on the coast of Snowdonia in North Wales. The village is located near Penrhyndeudraeth, on the estuary of the River Dwyryd, two miles southeast of Porthmadog, and one mile from the railway station at Minffordd, which serves both the narrow gauge Ffestiniog Railway and Arriva Trains Wales (Cambrian Line). Nice travel destination.

Legoland Windsor is a child-oriented theme park in Windsor, Berkshire in England, themed around the Lego toy system. The park opened in 1996 on the site of what was the Windsor Safari Park, as the second Lego Group Legoland (the first was Legoland Billund in Denmark). In common with the other Legolands across the world, the park’s attractions consist of a mixture of Lego-themed rides, Lego models, and Lego building workshops. The park was acquired by the Blackstone Group in 2005, with the Lego Group retaining part ownership (30%), and is now operated by Merlin Entertainments. Around 1.5 million people visit the park each year, with the season running from March to November. The facilities are mainly targeted at children between two and twelve, although the park is open to all. Super travel destination for kids. Plan it in your 2008 holidays.
