Patong Beach is a beach on Phuket’s , and to the town adjoining it. It is the main in Phuket. It also contains an important centre of Phuket’s and is the centre of cheap shopping on the island. The beach became popular with , especially Europeans, in the late 1980s. Numerous large hotels and chain hotels are located in Patong. Patong Beach is more famous for its nightlife than the 2-kilometer beach that runs the entire length of Patong Town’s western side. Nightlife is centered on two main areas Bangla Road and , with Bangla Road being predominantly straight and being predominantly gay. Both roads are lined with many themed bars, discotheques, and go go clubs. Prostitution is culturally acceptable, especially on Bangla road where you will find many older Western men drinking and flirting with much younger and transvestites. Find to Phuket.

According to Pliny the Elder, Portofino was founded by the Romans and named Portus Delphini, or Port of the Dolphin, because of the large number of dolphins that inhabited the Tigullian Gulf.
