The sunglasses market is huge and consumer trends are heavily influenced by what celebrities are sporting. Has anyone else noticed a lot of people this summer seem to be wearing round glasses? I certainly have! This year we have seen many celebrities wearing round glasses, we have seen this on the catwalk to many top celebrities wearing their favourite round glasses designer around town. So of course everyone else has jumped on the bandwagon. Round glasses have been around for years and were made famous by legends such as John Lennon and Elton John so you can understand why they have come back

Designers have of course followed these trends. Police sunglasses meet the demand by stocking a wide variety of designs including round glasses and last year’s Ray-Bans. In today’s market you are now able to get even more designer glasses on prescription! Police glasses offer a lot of their designer glasses with prescription which is letting more people wear designer sunglasses. A reason why we are seeing round glasses as this summer’s trend is the adoption by the big high street shops. This has allowed the mass general public to get this designer look for only a couple of pounds.

Personally dont quite see the fascination but not to worry Im sure there will something even cooler just around the corner for all the hype to start again.

My girlfriend and I had decided to take a last minute package holiday to Florida. We’d been lucky enough to get a really cheap last minute fly-drive deal that gave us 7 nights to explore Orlando and enjoy the Gulf coast.

We flew from Gatwick to Orlando airport and went straight to the car hire desk to collect the keys to our car. We’d pre-booked our first two nights in the Clarion Hotel and a hire car for the duration of our stay. If we liked the hotel our plan was to stay put, otherwise we would be free to move on to another location.

Our first night was spent resting in the hotel ready for our first full day which we spent sight-seeing and shopping. We finished the day at a fantastic fish restaurant that served some really delicious seafood with great service and entertainment thrown in. It was on the drive back to our hotel that things took a turn for the worse.

It was when we got on the highway that a police car came up behind us and indicated for us to pull over. The police officer told me that one of my car brake lights wasn’t working and he asked me to step out of the car to take a look. I explained that it was a rental car and that we had just arrived in the country only yesterday. The friendly and helpful police officer then asked me to open the boot so that he could take a look at the tail lamp.

When he shone his torch into the trunk he and I could see some traces of what looked like a white powder. The police officer’s manner changed immediately and he returned to his vehicle where he spent some time communicating on his radio. It must have only been a few short minutes before a second police car arrived with two officers inside. They told us that we were to accompany them to the police station to answer a few questions.

At the police station it became clear that the substance found in the trunk was cocaine and that the police suspected that we were drug dealers. My girlfriend was understandably very upset by the whole experience. It took no less than nine hours before they could verify who we were and that we were genuinely there on holiday.

Luckily for us the car hire desk was still manned, even at that late hour, and they were able to provide the police with details of the person who had hired the car before us. I’ve no idea whether the police ever caught up with the person responsible for carrying cocaine in the boot of our hire car.
