Built in 1958, the tower&#8217;s main sources of revenue are tourism and antenna leasing. Over 150 million people have visited the tower since its opening. FootTown, a 4-story building located directly under the tower, houses museums, restaurants and shops. Departing from here, guests can visit two observation decks. The 2-story Main Observatory is located at 150 meters (492 ft), while the smaller Special Observatory reaches a height of 250 meters (820 ft). <a href="http://www.dankuna.com/blog/tag/tokyo-city" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with tokyo city">Tokyo city</a> vacations landmark.<br />

One of the city&#8217;s most striking landmarks, it is a huge, cone-capped cylinder that dominates the skyline on the Galata side of the <a href="http://www.dankuna.com/blog/tag/golden-horn" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with golden horn">Golden Horn</a>. The tower was built as Christea Turris in 1348 during an expansion of the Genoese colony in <a href="http://www.dankuna.com/blog/tag/constantinople" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with constantinople">Constantinople</a>. It was the apex of the fortifications surrounding the <a href="http://www.dankuna.com/blog/tag/genoese-citadel" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with genoese citadel">Genoese citadel</a> of Galata. The current tower should not be confused with the old Tower of Galata, an original Byzantine tower, named Megalos Pyrgos, which controlled the northern end of the massive sea chain that closed the entrance of the <a href="http://www.dankuna.com/blog/tag/golden-horn" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with golden horn">Golden Horn</a>. This tower was on a different site and was largely destroyed during the Fourth Crusade in 1204. The 66.90 <a href="http://www.dankuna.com/blog/tag/meter-tower" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with meter tower">meter tower</a> (62.59 m without the ornament on top, 51.65 m at the <a href="http://www.dankuna.com/blog/tag/observation-deck" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with observation deck">observation deck</a>) was the city&#8217;s tallest structure when built. The elevation at ground level is 35 meters above sea-level. The upper section of the tower with the conical cap was slightly modified in several restorations during the Ottoman period when it was used as an <a href="http://www.dankuna.com/blog/tag/observation-tower" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with observation tower">observation tower</a> for spotting fires. <p>The <a href="http://www.dankuna.com/blog/tag/cliffs-of-moher" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with cliffs of moher">Cliffs of Moher</a> are located in the parish of Liscannor at the south-western edge of The Burren area near Doolin, which is located in <a href="http://www.dankuna.com/blog/tag/county-clare" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with county clare">County Clare</a>, <a href="http://www.dankuna.com/blog/tag/republic-of-ireland" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with republic of ireland">Republic of Ireland</a>. The cliffs rise 120 meters (394 ft) above the Atlantic Ocean at Hag&#8217;s Head, and reach their maximum height of 214 meters (702 ft) just north of O&#8217;Brien&#8217;s Tower, eight kilometres away. The cliffs boast one of Ireland&#8217;s most spectacular views. On a clear day the <a href="http://www.dankuna.com/blog/tag/aran-islands" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with aran islands">Aran Islands</a> are visible in <a href="http://www.dankuna.com/blog/tag/galway-bay" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with galway bay">Galway Bay</a>, as are the valleys and hills of Connemara. O&#8217;Brien&#8217;s Tower is a round <a href="http://www.dankuna.com/blog/tag/stone-tower" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with stone tower">stone tower</a> at the approximate midpoint of the cliffs. It was built by Sir Cornellius O&#8217;Brien, a descendant of Ireland&#8217;s High King <a href="http://www.dankuna.com/blog/tag/brian-boru" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with brian boru">Brian Boru</a>, in 1835, as an <a href="http://www.dankuna.com/blog/tag/observation-tower" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with observation tower">observation tower</a> for the hundreds of tourists that frequented the cliffs even at that date. From atop that watchtower, one can view the Aran Islands and Galway Bay, the Maum Turk Mountains and the Twelve Pins to the north in Connemara, and <a href="http://www.dankuna.com/blog/tag/loop-head" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with loop head">Loop Head</a> to the south. Moher tower, located at Hag&#8217;s Head, is a square <a href="http://www.dankuna.com/blog/tag/stone-ruin" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with stone ruin">stone ruin</a>. It appears to be the remains of a watchtower placed during Napoleon&#8217;s reign in Europe. Very interesting <a href="http://www.dankuna.com/blog/tag/tourist-spot" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with tourist spot">tourist spot</a> in Ireland.</p>
