Morgan Library & Museum (formerly Pierpont Morgan Library) is a museum and research library in New York City, USA. It ‘was founded to house the private library of JP Morgan in 1906, which included in addition to manuscripts and printed books, some of which are rare in bandages, his prints and drawings. The library was designed by Charles McKim, and company McKim, Mead and White, and to pay $ 1.2 million. It ‘was a public institution in 1924, his son, John Pierpont Morgan, Jr.
Today the library is a complex of buildings that serve as a museum and a university research center. The scope of the collection has been formed in his early years as a private collection of Belle da Costa Greene, librarian to JP Morgan, personally, would become the first director of the library and is served from the time they are made public until “until his retirement in 1948. His successor, Frederick Baldwin Adams, Jr., managed the library until 1969 and was also known worldwide for their personal collections. The library contains many illuminated manuscripts, and authors of the original manuscripts, including some of Sir Walter Scott and Honore de Balzac, and the pieces of paper which said that Bob Dylan “Blowin ‘in the Wind” and “N’ Me Babe.”
The first building dedicated to housing the library (McKim Building) was designed by Charles Follen McKim in 1903. It is located at 33 East thirty-sixth Street, which at the time was right to residence east of JP Morgan, Brown Stone House was built in 1880 (address: 219 Madison Avenue). McKim has influences of Villa Giulia and the Nymphaeum. In 1907, Pierpont Morgan helped the panic at the end of 1907 the rally with other bankers to provide liquidity to support the banking system under threat. The crisis was resolved in the library after closing the doors and allowed the bankers to go before you decide to save the plan.
