Miniatürk

Miniatürk is a miniature park situated at the north-eastern shore of in Istanbul, Turkey. It was unsealed May 2, 2003. Miniatürk covers a total area of 60,000 m2 (650,000 sq ft). It is the world’s largest miniature park with its 15,000 m2 (160,000 sq ft) . Miniatürk has 40,000 m2 (430,000 sq ft) of open space, 3,500 m2 (38,000 sq ft) of awninged area, 2,000 m2 (22,000 sq ft) of pools and waterways, and a parking aggregation with a capacity of 500 vehicles.

The park contains 105 models done in 1/25th scale. 45 of the structures are from Istanbul, 45 are from , and 15 are from the Ottoman territories that today lie right of Turkey. Also featured are past structures like the at metropolis and the at Halicarnassus (now Bodrum). Additional expanse was reserved for potential future models.

 Pera Museum, Istanbul
Pera Museum is a museum in Istanbul, Turkey, founded in 2005 by the Suna and Inan Kirac Foundation.The museum is housed in a renovated historical building, which was originally constructed in 1893 by the architect Achille Manoussos in the Tepebasi neighborhood of Istanbul. The building is one of the most significant in Pera and served as the Bristol Hotel for a long period. Pera Museum’s permanent collections include the Suna and Inan Kirac Foundation’s collection of Orientalist art, which consists of more than three hundred paintings. This rich collection brings together important works by European artists inspired by the Ottoman world from the 17th century to the early 19th. The collection, which presents a vast visual panorama of the last two centuries of the , includes works by Osman Hamdi Bey, regarded by art historians as the genre’s only “native Orientalist” including his most famous painting The Tortoise Trainer. Other notable permanent collections are Anatolian weights and measures, Kutahya tiles and ceramics. .

Istanbul Archaeology Museums, Istanbul
The Istanbul is an archeological museum, located in the Eminonu district of Istanbul, Turkey, near Gulhane Park and . The site of the museums actually belonged to the outer gardens. The museum was founded by decree as the . When it opened to the public in 1891, it was the first one to feature Turkish art. The first curator was Osman Hamdi Bey, who was also the founder of the museum. Since the imperial decree protecting cultural goods in the was enforced, many governors from the different provinces would send in found artefacts to the capital city. In that way the museum was able to amass a great collection. Upon its 100th anniversary in 1991, the Museum received the European Council Museum Award, particularly for the renovations made to the lower floor halls in the main building and the new displays in the other buildings. Galata tower, Istanbul

The , also called Christea Turris (Tower of Christ) by the Genoese and Megalos Pyrgos (The ) by the , is located in Istanbul, Turkey, to the north of the . One of the city’s most striking landmarks, it is a huge, cone-capped cylinder that dominates the skyline on the Galata side of the . The tower was built as Christea Turris in 1348 during an expansion of the Genoese colony in . It was the apex of the fortifications surrounding the of Galata. The current tower should not be confused with the old Tower of Galata, an original Byzantine tower, named Megalos Pyrgos, which controlled the northern end of the massive sea chain that closed the entrance of the Golden Horn. This tower was on a different site and was largely destroyed during the Fourth Crusade in 1204. The 66.90 (62.59 m without the ornament on top, 51.65 m at the ) was the city’s tallest structure when built. The elevation at ground level is 35 meters above sea-level. The upper section of the tower with the conical cap was slightly modified in several restorations during the Ottoman period when it was used as an for spotting fires. Dolmabahce Palace, Istanbul

Fourteen tons of gold in the form of gold leaf were used to gild the ceilings of the palace. The world’s largest Bohemian crystal chandelier, a gift from Queen Victoria, is at the center hall. The chandelier has 750 lamps and weighs 4.5 tons.
