Formerly known as Konsky trh (English: <a href="http://www.dankuna.com/blog/tag/horse-market" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with horse market">Horse Market</a>), for its periodic accommodation of <a href="http://www.dankuna.com/blog/tag/horse-markets" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with horse markets">horse markets</a> during the Middle Ages, it was renamed Svatovaclavske namestí (English: <a href="http://www.dankuna.com/blog/tag/saint-wenceslas" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with saint wenceslas">Saint Wenceslas</a> square) in 1848 on the proposal of Karel Havlícek Borovsky.
