The Three Peaks Challenge is a punishing challenge for fans of hill in the . Becoming possible with the invention of the motor car, the Three Peaks Challenge remains popular with walkers even today, often doing it for charity.

The Three Peaks Challenge consists of three walks, often within 24 hours. The starting walk is Ben Nevis in Scotland. This is usually done early in the morning. Following the descent, you hitch a ride south. This is where the race in 24 hours is won or lost, so it’s essential a driver, so you can sleep.

The reason why it’s won or lost here? If you hit rush hour around the , , you will be queuing. Mountain number 2 is Scarfell’s Pike, the tallest mountain in . This is the smallest mountain to climb, but it’s one of the hardest. The reason? Paths aren’t etched as easily as on the other two mountains, so it’s very easy to get confused. When you’ve descended Scarfell’s Pike, you drive to to climb Snowdon.

The final mountain to ascend is Snowdon, in Snowdonia. The second highest mountain in the UK, Snowdon is the highest peak in Wales, and the last on your challenge. You should be climbing this in hours 18-24 of the challenge, as it takes about six hours to climb the mountain. But the challenge isn’t over until you climb back down the mountain and return to base camp.

If you do, before 24 hours after you started, then congratulations! You’ve completed the Three Peaks Challenge!

Brighton is an ideal place for the whole family as there is just so much to see and do. The beach of course is a major attraction for families and you can expect to find all the usual seaside amusements on offer such as arcades and fairgrounds. If your children enjoy the outdoor life and the weather is good there are also lots of good-sized parks that are well equipped and near to the West Pier there is a park with a paddling pool good fun for younger children.

The Marina at Brighton is like a small village in itself with a shopping centre and lots of places to grab a bit to eat. There are all kinds of food on offer here and lots of well-known chains so it makes a good place to fill up the kids. The Marina has an indoor virtual golf course and also a bowling alley perfect for bad weather days and there is also a cinema here.

Lancashire (UK) – A Tourist’s Guide

Blackpool is Britain’s number one spot with over six million people a year visiting the town. The town’s Golden Mile, may suit a mile-long stretch of Las Vegas-style casino hotels situated along the seafront which has turned Blackpool into Britain’s home of the casino.

If you’re a fan of natural beauty, you’ll already know that Britain has hundreds of miles of beautiful rolling countryside on offer. The historic villages of Arnside and Silverdale, sat snugly on the coastline of Morecambe Bay, offer a range of woodlands, grasslands and salt marshes to explore and admire. Arnside has a number of gorgeous Victorian stores and traditional pubs where you can sample some English ales while looking out at the stunning scenery.

Pendle Hill, located in the north east of Lancashire, is an isolated hill with a long and fascinating history. In 1612, the Pendle witch trials took place, with twelve people being accused of the murders of ten people by the use of witchcraft. Only one was found not guilty and ten people were hanged. Hoghton dates back to the 12th century since the De Hoghton family began living at the house at the time of William the Conqueror. It is rumored that the sirloin steak was so named at Hoghton, when a visiting King James I was so impressed with a loin of steak that he had been served, he whipped out his sword and knighted it ‘Sir Loin’.

Vacationing in Britain is always great fun as the country is so diverse, and Lancashire is no different. In stark contrast to the busy seaside town of Blackpool, the Forest of Bowland offers 312 miles of unique scenery, most of it completely untouched since the medieval period.
