A cruise vacation offers diverse options for the young, old and everything in between. There are many factors that will decide on what your trip is like, such as how big the liner you’ll be traveling on is. A little research will influence your experience, so look into other people’s cruise encounters.
If you are looking at a mega-liner one of the 12 to 15 story behemoths you can expect, first and foremost, a lot of people. These will accommodate many people, but don’t plan to get much alone time. You can expect activities, dining, theatres, and casinos. Many will have gyms, spas and game areas. These mammoth cruises offer non-stop activity, entertainment and company.
Smaller cruise ships are available, accommodating between 100 and 500 passengers. These ships tend to offer a more elegant, refined atmosphere, with better amenities in terms of decor and service. Dress codes tend to be less casual than on the larger cruise ships, but most will have spa facilities, a health club, pool area and boutiques for the shoppers. Because the passengers are fewer in number, social activities and dining tend to have more of a neighborly feel, growing into a comfortable, friendly, country-club atmosphere where friendships can develop. These cruises are less frenetic and more conducive to a romantic getaway or quiet vacation than the mega-liners provide.
There are a few safety tips you should know, no matter what kind of cruise you go on. Be alert, as you should be anywhere. Don’t leave valuables in your cabin make use of the ship’s safe. Don’t go down dark hallways alone. Be careful of your alcohol intake. You won’t be able to stand by dinner, if you start drinking cocktails in the afternoon. Too much alcohol can turn into reckless behavior.
Cruises are great vacation experiences. Like a huge resort on water, you won’t have to leave the ship to have a fantastic vacation. You’ll have a variety of food options, plenty of activity, and great entertainment. Although they can be quite pricey, booking far in advance, or very late, can save you up to 50% on your vacation cost. Remember to keep an eye on your spending on board. You will be given a C note card that you’ll have to pay off before you get off. Take advantage of the duty free shops on board as well as in any ports you may visit. Enjoy your trip.
