The National Mall is an open-area national tract in downtown Washington, D.C., the capital of the United States. The National Mall is a organization of the National Park Service, and is administered by the National Mall and Memorial Parks unit. The term “National Mall” commonly includes areas that are officially part of West Potomac Park and Constitution Gardens to the west, and often is taken to refer to the entire area between the Lincoln Memorial and the Capitol, with the Washington Monument providing a division slightly west of the center. The National Mall receives approximately 24 million visitors apiece year.

The Washington National Cathedral, officially called the Cathedral Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul and designated by Congress as the non-denominational National House of Prayer, is a cathedral of the Episcopal Church in the United States, popularly called the Episcopal Church USA. Located in Washington, D.C., the capital of the United States, it is the sixth largest cathedral in the world and second largest in the United States. The cathedral is the official seat of both the presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church USA and its Diocese of Washington, composed of the District of Columbia and the Charles, Montgomery, Prince George’s, and St. Mary’s Counties in Maryland.
