Audubon Aquarium of the Americas is a renowned aquarium in New Orleans, LA, USA. Recognized as a leader of the aquariums in the United States, the Aquarium of the Americas is managed by the Audubon Institute, who also supervises the Audubon Zoo and Audubon Park, (in another part of town). The aquarium is located on the banks of the Mississippi River by the edge of the historic French Quarter on Canal Street at the top of Woldenberg Park. The Aquarium opened its doors in 1990.
The aquarium reopened May 26, 2006. They are currently running an Adopt an animal to raise funds for reconstruction. Since Hurricane Katrina, the aquarium has improved, adding more species in the Caribbean and the jellyfish exhibits and an overhaul in the Gulf of Mexico the tank.
