The Succsess of these phones are due to the popularity of the open sourced development communities. If you own a smart phone one day it’s going to get you out of an awkward or dangerous situation! (Even though your phone cannot perform CPR there’s an App to teach your rescuer how to perform it).

Many of these phones have a standardised GPS app installed on the factory firmware which will unusually pin point your exact location then all you have to do is type in your hotels name and it will point you in the right direction, it will also tell you how far it and what landmarks you’re likely to pass on the way.

translator and foregin dictionaries are no better than maps there just outdated and embarassing.
Every smart phone has a translator app for all languages which can usually be downloaded from the phones app store, prices usually are cheap and are under $1 so well worth buying as they will help you translate crucial words which may get you get out of a pickle.
Wi-FI and 3g Networks are flaky in England I dare to imagine how reliable to they are in Sri Lanka for example.
Personally ive never been on Sri lanka Holidays But if I did I guarantee I wouldn’t be able to find any 3g, edge or WI-FI networks! so how can my phone benefit me?…? Easily! Send your search query such as “cheap hotels in Colombo” to Google on 46645 and they will send back a search answer along with a contact number etc.
Is there any need for travel guides? no there all outdated and embarrassing all you really need is your phone! Rememeber to Charger your phones battery so it’s got plenty of juice or bring along a universal charger!
