Diving with sharks has become massively popular in recent years with a wide variety of different people, and there are numerous different locations to try it. If you like the sound of diving with sharks, here are a few of the best places to do it:
South Africa is probably the best shark diving destination on Earth, particularly given the fact that you can cage dive with huge Great White sharks. There are numerous diving locations and highly reputable diving instructors in the country, making it an excellent choice for diving holidays. Although the best individual diving spot in the country is arguable, my own personal favourite would be Aliwal Shoal.
Australia is another extremely popular destination for shark diving and for scuba diving holidays generally. Australia has the second highest numbers of Great White sharks in the world, with South Africa being the only country to exceed their numbers. If you are thinking of visiting Australia for a shark diving holiday, you’ll be well advised to travel to Southern Australia, where the water are a little colder and more attractive to the Great White.
You might find it surprising, but you can even go shark diving in the UK, although (somewhat obviously) these sharks will not be in their natural habitat. The Blue Planet Aquarium in Cheshire offers shark diving experiences, where you can swim with Sand Tiger sharks which reach up to 10ft long. Although if you don’t want to swim with them, you can just enjoy observing Europe’s biggest collection of shark species at the aquarium.
Another extremely popular destination for shark diving is the Caribbean, which has a huge variety of sharks in its’ waters. Caribbean diving will allow you not only to spot sharks and cage dive, but you will be able to free swim with certain species such as the Tiger shark.
