Many travelers undergo unnecessary stress because of unavoidable mistakes and poor planning. Air and airports are stressful and annoying enough as they are without adding stress to them. Then why don’t you take the time to makes everything as easy as possible for yourself?

Following these seven tips will help your next flight to be as pleasant as it is possible for a flight to be.

Know what you want and go for it. Sounds difficult to do but worth the effort you put into it. The only thoughts that should be rushing through your head are that everything will be great and go smoothly and that the people you need to deal with will be helpful. The day is more likely to run smoothly if you are thinking that is what is going to happen than if you think that everything is going to go wrong.

Be sure to wear slip-on shoes Security in airports is tight, and it doesn’t look to be easing off anytime soon this means that each time we want to fly somewhere we have to do a partial striptease in front of an airport filled with impatient passengers who just want to get on their flight. Wearing slip on shoes to the airport makes the security checks that much easier as your shoes just, as their name would suggest, slip on and off.

Use wheels for your carry-on Consider this as a portable airport supply kit. Even if you have luggage to check it is still a great idea to have this wheeled carry-on bag at your side. Carrying all the small things that you might need to make the airports bearable in a bag over your shoulder can be tiring and limits the amount of flexibility you have. You can use your wheeled carry-on for the food, drinks and magazines that you may pick up during your trip through the airport.

Bring snacks. Whether you buy it at the airport, on the plane or from home it is a good idea to try and eat something healthy at some point during your trip through the airport.

Drink plenty of water. Whilst flying it is a good idea to drink a lot of water, this will help you to feel better about the entire situation. Throughout the flight the air is recycled which means that it is very dry because of this sealed and pressurized environment. This means that your breathing in a lot of not very nice stuff and drinking water helps your body to deal with this.

Silence is golden, so investing in a set of noise-canceling headphones is a good choice. I don’t think that there is anything else I can say but wow! If you fly often then a set of noise-canceling headphones are worth the money you pay for them. I don’t think I have to tell you that are not the quietest places on earth. The combination of powerful engines, crying babies and talkative neighbors can really be a headache. And yet these noises that are so overpowering will become nothing more than background whispers when you are wearing noise-canceling headphones.

Replaceable entertainment. During your flight and any layovers you need to take there are an almost endless amount of things that you can do to stave of boredom such as working on your laptop or doing a crossword puzzle. Watching television requires a credit card, puzzles require a pen and your laptop has a limited charge in it’s battery. It’s easy to see the point that I’m trying to make. Picking entertainment that is easily carried and easily stopped and started again is a great idea as that may happen quite a bit as you progress through your travels. The best option that is available to you is that of a magazine, because it doesn’t matter if you space out and leave it behind because you will have lots of opportunities to replace it.

Your air travel worries will all just melt away if you implement these seven suggestions and keep your survival kit lightly but well stocked.
