If you’re like a lot of the population and still feeling the effects of the credit crunch, you might be wondering if you can afford to take a holiday this year.
You should always remember, though, that you can have a top-notch holiday without leaving the borders of the UK. In fact, many people are doing just that. Whether they’re enjoying a seaside trip to Whitby, or getting away from it all on Holy Island off the coast of Northumberland, holidaymakers are taking notice of the wonderful holiday destinations the UK offers.
If a trip to the seaside or a rented cottage in the country aren’t on the cards this year, why not make your way to Birmingham and visit Cadbury World: the chocoholic’s Promised Land.
Cadbury World is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and loads of special events are planned. Here are just a few of the family-friendly celebrations on offer:
- Bollywood Weekend (17th and 18th of July) You don’t have to be a fan of the films to enjoy the Bollywood dance performances, drummers and authentic food. They’ve even got a dance workshop planned, so you can learn some of the stars’ moves!
- Summer Holiday Fun (24th July to 31st August) During these fun-filled weeks, there is additional family entertainment planned from 11:00am to 3:00pm daily. The martial arts act Strike (from Britain’s Got Talent) will also be wowing the audience with their prowess on selected dates.
- 20th Anniversary Celebrations (4th and 5th September) These special days will have more performances by Strike along with loads of extra special entertainment for the whole family.
- Ghosts & Ghoul’s Week (23rd to 31st October) This spooky week will feature fancy dress competitions, plus a ghoulish food menu and spine-tingling chocolate novelties in the Cadbury Shop.
- Winter Wonderland (Weekends from 20th November to 19th December) Father Christmas sets up camp at Cadbury World on these special weekends, when every child will receive a free gift! On the 27th-28th November and the 4th-5th December, you can even meet Father Christmas’s reindeers!
Even if you can’t make it to Birmingham for any of these special events at Cadbury World, there are still 14 distinctly delicious zones to explore. Whether you’re travelling back in time to Bull Street where John Cadbury started the business, or visiting the Purple Planet where you can play in chocolate rain and see what you’d look like sculpted from chocolate, the whole family is sure to have a great day out!
