It is good to have to prove legal resident status if there is a question. If you board a domestic flight in the US with destination in the US, you only need to show a valid government issued ID. That could be a passport (any country), a driver's license (any US state) or of course a green card.Travel within the US is unrestricted for anyone here legally (tourist visa or permanent resident).
